STAFF SPOTLIGHT: NICK CIANCIO
Athletic Director - Westminster High School

Nick is a proud 2002 graduate of Ranum High School where he played multiple sports including football, baseball, and basketball. His sister Sara and brother Guiseppe also attended Ranum.

After graduating high school and going to college, Nick joined WPS as a basketball coach, security guard, and substitute teacher and eventually moved into teaching social studies with his sights set on becoming a school administrator. His first admin job was as Dean at Westy. Shortly after that, he became the Assistant Principal at Sunset Ridge PK-8. This last summer, he was tapped to become the new Athletic Director at Westy bringing him back full circle.

Nick comes from a long line of Ciancios who have made a difference in WPS including his dad who works in the district and his uncle who served as school board president.

His vision for athletics is to create lifelong competitors. “Sports aren’t forever,” he states, “But competition is always there. We need to build resilience in our student-athletes for life after graduation.” Nick has put community engagement front and center in his new role too.
