In what is now an annual tradition, the student body of Westminster High School turned out this last week to support unified sports in a thrilling game of football with members of the football team and students with disabilities. 

 

It's a game where everyone was a winner!

 

The game, complete with an announcer and cheerleaders allowed students from all backgrounds and abilities to work together to develop meaningful school memories and lifelong friendships.

 

Started in 2023 by varsity quarterback Mason Kiewiet and his teammates, the Westy Turkey Bowl celebrates everyone on the field and in the stands.  For some it meant running the ball down the field for a touchdown, and for others it was cheering with poms.  The student athletes also learned what it means to help others.

 

The day captured the spirt of Thanksgiving and embracing lifelong skills of teamwork, empathy, understanding, and friendship.
