DR. GOTTO DELIVERS FIRST STATE OF DISTRICT
Telling the Westminster Public Schools community that the school district is ‘’strong,” Dr. Jeni Gotto detailed a list of accomplishments and challenges in her first State of the District report during the January 28 Board of Education meeting.

Gotto succeeded Dr. Pamela Swanson, who retired last summer.

“Together, we make Westminster Public Schools a place where every student thrives and prepares for a successful future,” Gotto said. “In a district Where Education is Personal, we all share the responsibility to help every individual reach their full potential.”

Gotto thanked voters for passing a bond election in November, and announced that next month, WPS will hold its first meeting of the Forward Together Facilities Initiative (FTFI), a group of district staff and community members tasked with assessing WPS’s needs and examining local, regional, and global trends impacting our plans.

She also noted that 2025 will bring more changes to the Iver C. Ranum Innovation Campus which is entering Phase two of its operations this year. Among the highlights, the launching of a hands-on STEM Lab for 8th graders to explore STEM pathways and a collaboration with Front Range Community College to offer certifications and workforce training for adults in the community.

And while Gotto said the district is doing well, she acknowledged that WPS, like all school districts, needs to address long-ranged challenges including possible cuts from the state of Colorado and declining enrollment.
