Right before winter break, two dogs that represent the Riverdale Animal Shelter visited students at Harris Park Elementary School.  

This well-deserved visit was all thanks to Harris Park students who dedicated three weeks to raise money to donate to the animal shelter. In total, the school raised $900 with Mrs. Basile’s class placing first, Mrs. Myers' class placing second and Mrs. Garcia’s class placing third.

Volunteers from the shelter were also on hand to visit the winning classes. Before presenting the check to the Riverdale Animal Shelter, students were able to pet and interact with their furry friends. Students also had time to ask questions about the animals that are available for adoption at the Riverdale Animal Shelter.

Both dogs that visited the school were rescued when they were young and now serve as ambassadors of the charity’s important service of helping animals find their forever homes.
